Bass clarinet and purple Mojave turquoise pendant necklace
First finger, right hand bass clarinet key with a large piece of purple Mojave turquoise from the Kingman mine in Kingman, Arizona. Mojave turquoise is actually a composite of many small pieces of turquoise leftover from the cabochon cutting process. These little bits are put into a vacuum press, bronze or other medium is poured over them, and the vacuum press is turned on to draw the molten material into the cracks and solidify. The material is then dyed and cut and polished. In this way, very little turquoise from their mine goes to waste! The decorative elements are jewelers brass and 10k gold plated copper. The chain is 30 inches long and is silver-plated steel.
