Cerrillos Turquoise and Copper pendant
This one-of-a-kind piece is a copper version of my Rivers of Texas series. The turquoise is from the Casa Grande Trading Post in Los Cerrillos, New Mexico, specifically from the Little Chalchihuitl mine. A fun fact about that area is that the movie Young Guns was filmed there. Another fun fact is that while Los Cerrillos does not have much in the way of cell phone service or indoor public restrooms, it does have a darn good art gallery. Also, down the road in Madrid, you can get a really good latte in a coffee shop that is housed in an old miner's house. That whole area is pretty neat, to be honest. Anyway, the whole piece is clear coated to preserve the color of the copper and also to prevent allergic reactions, in case you have a copper allergy.
The chain is copper and is 18 inches long. The extra ring is in case you want to shorten it to 16 inches.
