Greetings, and happy first day of spring! Or, as I like to call it here in Texas, pre-summer. It's eighty-five degrees down here, y'all, which does NOT bode well for summer. Oh, well. I'm not here to talk to you about the weather, though. I'm here to tell you of my latest adventure. The Craft Guild of Dallas has a twice-yearly juried art exhibition and sale, and I decided to apply for it. Unlike the other two shows I'm doing, this one required professional photographs (shoutout to O'hara Studios in Dallas!) to be submitted. Serious business! I got the photos back this morning and they are gorgeous! Marilyn did a fantastic job of capturing all the details and colors of my pieces. I can't wait to get some more pieces photographed by her! I'm going to post the small size photos here because the detailed versions are enormous to download to the web. Feast your eyes on these!
I submitted the full size versions plus the necessary paperwork to the Craft Guild of Dallas. Now all I have to do is wait to see if I'm selected. Wish me luck!
Here's the official flyer for that art festival in Addison I was telling you about. My vendor tent has been ordered and is on the way, I have plans to build some pedestal tables, advertising and merchandising materials are in the works, and I'm looking through catalogs at display units. It looks like this jewelry thing is really going to happen, and I'm super excited! I hope to see you there!
(I also hope it doesn't R-A-I-N!!!)
Well! When last we met, I was showing off my latest creations. THIS time, I have a venue at which to show them! Here are upcoming dates for art/craft fairs I will be exhibiting at!
Saturday, April 22 from 12pm to 5pm
Beckert Park in Addison, TX
It's still a little early to tell you more, but this is the inaugural event, and so far there are at least 24 other artists, including little me! There will be music, food, art (painting, jewelry, pottery, that sort of thing), and I heard a rumor that the restaurants on the circle across from the park will be offering specials. Don't quote me on that, though, as I do not have specifics. I will tell you more when I know more. You can come and laugh at my canopy tent and check out what I have in stock. Maybe get Mom a Mother's Day gift while you're there.
Valley View Christian Church Small Business Marketplace
Saturday, April 29 from 9am to 3pm
Valley View Christian Church
17601 Marsh Lane
Dallas, TX 75287
This is a showplace for local small businesses to get some exposure and all that good stuff. This is an indoor event, so you don't have to bring the sunscreen unless you just want to, or have big plans to head to the lake afterwards. For what it's worth, if I am not mistaken, the Carrollton Wind Symphony used to rehearse here a long time ago.
I'm really super excited about these opportunities, but also a little nervous. We'll see how it goes.
Hope to see you there!
Greetings, one and all! I have spent the last week focusing solely on jewelry making and all that involves. Unfortunately, that did not involve making a business card for some reason, but I did finish eleven pieces in total, nine of which are now residing in my Etsy store. Go check it out, then come back and read the rest of this ramble!
Now, on with the show! I spent the week feverishly working to complete several pieces, plus build a light box (so the young people tell me it is called) to do more professional looking photographs. I have mixed feelings about that light box, but I guess it's because I have a lot to learn. I prefer a more interesting background for my pieces, but the solid white does lend itself to a cleaner, less distracting look. Behold, the fruits of my labor! You can see them all on Etsy, and some of them in the gallery on this site. Thanks for looking!
